Based in Goshen, Indiana. This company specialized in educational materials like wall maps, globes, and related classroom tools, primarily for schools in the late 20th century. The label shows an assembly date of March 15, 1989 (with “PF” likely the assembler’s initials or a production code). The map labels the Soviet Union as the “UNION OF SOVIET SOCIALIST REPUBLICS” (USSR), which existed until its dissolution in December 1991. The Solidarity movement in Poland in 1989 comprised the first real crack in the Iron Curtain. The Berlin Wall fell later that year, and then, one by one, the nations of Eastern Europe and Central Asia began to break free. On Christmas Day, 1991, the Soviet Union itself officially collapsed, ending the Cold War. Nice condition with some wear/creases here and there as shown. Some notable wrinkling/damage along the top include a few half inch tears and one on the right side that’s about 1.5 long.
