Beautiful Vintage Gents Russian Mechanical Ultra Slim Sekonda (Poljot) de Lux Watch; USSR. Made at the 1st Moscow watch factory in the 1970s as a re-branded Poljot for the UK market. Very Clean example in good mechanical and cosmetic condition. It keeps good time. It is powered by the superb caliber 2209, a reliable 23 Jewel Soviet era mechanical hand winding movement with a central seconds hand. The movement is ultra slim. Indeed on the advent of the quartz revolution, when Poljot introduced a quartz version of the watch it required a deeper case back to accommodate the movement because it was bulkier than the mechanical one. The case is reasonably large for the era with a width of 35mm (excluding the crown) and 43mm lug to lug (18mm lugs). It wears bigger due to the large dial area. It has the original supplied integrated steel mesh bracelet and on the strap it weighs just 48g. The clean silver dial has a subtle star burst effect and the roman numerals give the watch a classic appearance. The classic ultra slimline appearance is enhanced by the high domed acrylic crystal which accentuates the vintage look of the piece. At 6 oclock it says Made in USSR.
