Great, very warm Soviet Army or Air Force Officer Parade overcoat. Made of heavy 100% wool and lined with silk serge at Soviet military factory in 1980th (see detail of original tags) according to the Ministry of Defense of USSR manual “Rules and Regulation of wearing Military Uniforms”. This overcoat you can see in this manual on page 116, drawing 38. Beware of Fakes and Reproductions!!! Original Soviet military buttons. Russian size is 48/3 or US men’s’ size 38/Regular. The coat is unissued and in great shape; it is made in USSR in 1980th for Soviet Army Parade Officer uniform. If it is good for Russian winter – good everywhere in the world. USSR Soviet Russian Soldier’s Military Jacket overcoat Winter Coat Army Shinel. (for chest 96 cm around and for tall up to 182 cm). NEW in perfect condition! Made in USSR 1980 th. USSR Military Old Stock Warehousing. An overcoat is an indispensable attribute of a Russian soldier. It became part of the form in the 18th century and remains it to this day. In the Soviet Army, infantry overcoats were distinguished – 32 cm from the floor and cavalry overcoats – very long, all the way to the ground. An old-style soldier’s overcoat is sewn from brownish-gray cloth. It is very warm and durable, designed for long service in the most severe conditions from Moscow to the outskirts. The overcoat is single-breasted, fastens with invisible hooks in front. There are three small buttons on the back of the soldier’s overcoat. The strap is made in the form of an elongated figure of eight and is attached to two large buttons. The overcoat is usually worn with a lap belt. The soldiers also had sleeve insignia, shoulder straps and buttonholes. An old-style soldier’s overcoat is not only practical clothes, but also part of the image, a stylish thing in the spirit of “military”. Not for nothing, after all, in the 80s of the last century, the Chinese changed one overcoat for three short fur coats of dogs.

The Marshal of The Soviet Union can be considered equal to the US Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and or Secretary of Defense. This overcoat is the parade dress for the Marshal of The Soviet Union and has the correct matching gray backed shoulder boards specifically for this jacket. Many other marshals overcoats come with the gold backed boards because this type is very difficult to find. Jacket is around a size 42/44R.
