This is a vintage print that belongs to an original set of 32 reproduction prints entitled Soviet Painting. This print includes a descriptive protective tissue guard with the painting’s title, the artist’s name, the painting technique, the date, and a short essay about the work and the artist, providing historical and stylistic context (see last picture). Published just months before Nazi Germany’s invasion of Poland (September 1939) and two years before Hitler’s devastating attack on the Soviet Union (June 1941), this poster represents the confident, triumphant face the Soviet state projected to the world-and its own citizens-before the catastrophe of World War II. Scene depicts Joseph Stalin and Kliment Voroshilov walking side by side along the Kremlin embankment in Moscow. Both figures are shown in military-style overcoats, rendered with calm, deliberate posture and quiet authority. Their forward movement suggests leadership, vigilance, and continuity of power. Joseph Vissarionovich Stalin was a Soviet revolutionary and politician who led the Soviet Union from 1924 until his death in 1953. He held office as General Secretary of the Communist Party from 1922 to 1952 and as premier from 1941 until his death. Stalin codified the party’s official interpretation of Marxism as Marxism-Leninism, and his version of it is referred to as Stalinism. Following Stalin’s death, Nikita Khrushchev initiated de-Stalinization, which led to the widespread removal, destruction, or suppression of imagery associated with earlier Soviet leadership and rigid Stalinist ideology. During this time, many works of Socialist Realist propaganda-especially those emphasizing authority, militarism, or centralized power-were discarded, destroyed, or fell out of favour as the state sought to distance itself from the excesses of the Stalin period. As a result, surviving examples from earlier or transitional Soviet decades are increasingly scarce. The preservation of this print reflects its endurance through a politically sensitive era when visual culture was actively reassessed, censored, or replaced. Today, it serves as a tangible artifact of Soviet ideological history, illustrating how art was used to project stability, leadership, and national identity before and during one of the USSR’s most transformative periods. Artist: Alexander Gerasim O. Style: Socialist Realism is an officially sanctioned artistic style developed in the Soviet Union in the 1930s and later adopted across the Eastern Bloc. It was not just an art movement, but a state policy that governed how art should look and what it should communicate. Made in The USSR. This poster was produced for global export to propagate communist ideology. Publisher: State Art Publishers (??????????????????????????? “????????? “), Moscow & Leningrad. Condition: as seen on the pictures with yellowing/brittleness (typical for this age). This is guaranteed 100% soviet period item manufactured in the USSR. This is not a recent issue, replica or tourist souvenir.

USSR Soviet posters Propaganda. Weight: 2,167 grams, 50? 35? M. “The History of the All-Union Communist Party (Bolsheviks) in Posters” is a large-scale series of Soviet educational, instructional, and propaganda posters that were used for the mass ideological indoctrination of party cadres and the population of the USSR. This series was created as the official visual companion to I. Stalin’s famous textbook “A Short Course in the History of the All-Union Communist Party (Bolsheviks)” (published in 1938). Format: Large-format sets (usually 40 posters per album folder), published by Gospolitizdat. Style: Academic Socialist Realism. Instead of avant-garde montage, the emphasis shifted to strict infographics: detailed maps (diagrams of strikes, military operations), reproductions of paintings featuring Lenin and Stalin, as well as portraits of Politburo members. Purpose: A mandatory element of the decor in Lenin rooms, party schools, factories, and educational institutions for passing the political minimum. A big request to buyers!!! Please do not pay until I have combined your items together on one invoice. All have a good shopping and health! Peace and goodness to all.

We can see the Soviet leader Joseph Stalin greeting a female worker in the Kremlin, surrounded by other officials and workers. The work was created to venerate Stalin and symbolize themes like female equality and the success of Soviet industry, aligning with the propaganda of the era. Scene depicts Joseph Vissarionovich Stalin (right) and Mikhail Ivanovich Kalinin (left), two central figures of Soviet state power, in a staged but symbolically rich conversation. Stalin is depicted calm, confident, and authoritative, smoking a pipe – a recurring visual trope meant to suggest control, thoughtfulness, and leadership and Kalinin, formally Chairman of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet (nominal head of state), appears attentive and engaged, reinforcing the image of unity and consensus within leadership.
