Original slogan on the poster. IN: 23¼ x 35 = CM: 59 x 89. The artwork dedicated to the 12TH WORLD YOUTH AND STUDENT’S FESTIVAL (WFYS) – a festival held from July 27 to August 3, 1985 in Moscow. The festival was attended by 26,000 people from 157 countries of the world. The slogan of the festival is “For anti-imperialist solidarity, peace and friendship”. The poster and symbols of the XII World Festival of Youth and Students were approved in the Central Committee of the CPSU in Moscow personally by Mikhail Gorbachev. The political task of the festival was to show the positive aspects of the life of Soviet society, as well as the establishment of a new international economic order, discussion of the problem of economic assistance to backward and developing countries, the fight against poverty and unemployment, and environmental issues were raised. Please Note: The artwork was designed by one of the most famous Soviet poster artist – KARAKASHEV VILEN SURENOVICH (1935 -) and it was issued in a highly limited edition – only 5.000 exemplars.
