Antique Vintage Russian Stockinette Cloth Doll. The Soviet Union / USSR circa 1930s. Wearing a red cotton “sarafan”–jumper-type dress with blue/yellow strip around top, down center front & around hem; white cotton blouse with braid trim & red print “embroidery”. Tightly-wrapped yellow headscarf over paisley headband. Long white stockings & “bast”–wickerwork shoes that tie up the leg. Un-jointed body made of flesh-colored cotton; head & hands are stockinette. No hair under her headscarf. Cloth tag sewn to her slip, reads in English: “Made in Soviet Union/Smolensk district/Woman”. Small run in the stockinette fabric on the right side of her nose–see photos 3 & 4. This can be stabilized with a tiny bit of white glue or fabric “fray check”–I will leave the choice to her new owner. Very little fading or soil.
