VINTAGE, RARE, ORIGINAL, brass USSR AREA PLATE, KGB BORDER POST 1940, trademark
A large, very rare and beautiful, old, authentic (Soviet era USSR, KGB USSR) memorial plaque that was installed on the state border of the USSR. The plate is 100% original and has an engraved stamp on the reverse side in the shape of the number “6” and a sign shaped like an hourglass. Cast metal coat of arms of the USSR with 16 republic stripes (Coat of Arms of the Soviet Union) This plaque was taken from the USSR border crossing after the collapse of the Soviet Union. Dimensions 8 3/4 x 8 inches (22 x 20 cm). Weight 2 lb (0.93 kg). Made in the USSR immediately after World War II from nickel-plated brass. Good condition, some minor scratches, needs cleaning, see photos for details. A very beautiful and extremely rare item. The serious collector knows that for a short period of time from 1946 to 1956, the Soviet Union consisted of 16 republics (including the Karelo-Finnish SSR) (before 1946 there were 11 republics, after 1956 there were 15 republics).
