This listing is for the exceptional original 1966 Soviet Union Russian CCCP Propaganda Poster pictured above. An exceptional, scarce example of Soviet propaganda from the second half of the 20th century. The stunning graphic depicts a man in red pushing an elongated wheelbarrow. The overwhelming sense of power and movement in combination with the sharp lines and shapes is reminiscent of Italian futurism from the early 20th century. Born in 1928 in Penza. He graduated from Penza Art College (1948) and the Moscow State Art Institute (1954). He studied in the graphics department, under the leadership of professors N. The latter was one of the originators of the Soviet propaganda poster. After graduating he worked in various publishing houses throughout Moscow, including in the journal (translated to english) “Crocodile”. Later he devoted himself entirely to poster work. In the 1950s he created posters for several important films. In the 1960-80s, Sachkovs main work became political posters. He worked extensively with the most prominent publishers of propaganda. Some of the most famous works of this period include (roughly translated to english): “the storm of storms whirling flame” (1966), “Winter morning” (1969), “September 1 – to school” (1970), “Five-year plan of quality – our labor victory” (1975), “Good care – farm income”. He was a participant of many Republican, all-Union and international exhibitions. Many of his works were bestowed with prizes, medals and other awards. His work remains in many Russian museums and private collections. 44.25 inches long by 22.125 inches tall. Condition : The poster has been stored rolled up and there are pinholes and minor wear/creases/tears to the corners. There are some areas of minor stains on the surface.
