Soviet Union USSR Deep Sea Divers Watch BMO CCCP Submarine Diver Dive Watch
This is a Soviet Union Deep Sea Divers watch from 1976 (according to paperwork). Comes complete with original box, instructions, wrist band, impact guard and rubber o-ring (plus a spare), and a spare glass gasket. I bought it as a collector so it has never seen the water. It is the toughest watch I’ve ever seen. Completely cased in stainless steel with a glass cover about 3/16 inches thick, and a crown that is covered with a watertight cap. The wrist band is unimpressively small for such a large heavy watch. For anyone wishing to actually dive with it, I would substitute the band with a modern drivers watch band. I should be clear that this watch is intended to be worn over a wet suit, and is much too large to wear for everyday use without drawing a lot of attention. The dial is very luminescent when placed under a light i. Glow in the dark numbers. I have seen many versions of this watch that are more decorative and ornate. Which version was produced first, I do not know. Especially a divers watch. From the perspective of a collector, this piece is about as perfect as a 48 year old watch could be. The box is not scratched or damaged, the box hinge and the cover fit are tight. I’m listing with “or best offer”, so if you are at all interested just make a respectable offer. My hope is that it goes to someone who loves it as much as I have. Someone who finds the depths of the sea completely captivating and mysterious, and find the aesthetics of this watch reminiscent of the early deep sea diving suits.
